The Argentine Club

In the 1920's before the Great Depression, the economy was booming and the small town of Argentine, Kansas, was home to one of the largest railroad yards in the country. Growing up there meant time with friends, riding bikes, and exploring the wonders of the surrounding forests. Two young boys, George Marchand and Richie Arnold find an old cabin in a forest of trees and decide it would be a perfect clubhouse. A club isn't a club without rules, secret missions, and a painful initiation. Spanking was the norm and George, Richie, and their friends were no strangers to it. Soon, their friends wondered where they went on Saturday morning and wanted to be part of the club that their friends established, even if it meant accepting the strict rules of secrecy and the painful initiation. The club was interrupted by college years and World War II, but afterwards, Ritchie, now Pastor Arnold, and George, now a lawyer, decided to reconstitute the club as part of the church. Now it would be known as the Argentine Committee with the purpose of correcting the sins of the congregation and others under the purview of society. This is a wonderful coming of age story and follows the lives of Richie, George, Bethany, and Roxanne, as they meet, grow up, marry, and become the founding members of the Argentine Committee!
